Frequently Asked Questions
What quality setting should I use?

85% is recommended for most images —it achieves a large file size reduction with barely visible quality loss. For high-detail photos or print use, try 90—5%. For thumbnails or previews where size matters most, 60—5% is often acceptable.

What happens to transparent areas in my PNG?

JPEG does not support transparency. Transparent pixels are filled with the background color you choose in the settings panel (default: white). If your PNG has a transparent background, set the background color to match where the image will be placed.

Will converting PNG to JPG lose quality?

Yes —JPEG uses lossy compression, so some image data is discarded. The lower the quality setting, the more detail is lost. At 85% or above, the difference is minimal for most images and invisible to the naked eye.

Does JPEG support transparency?

No. JPEG does not support an alpha channel. If you need transparency in the output, use WebP Converter or keep the image as PNG.
